Governor of Sindh

Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan is the Governor of Sindh and now officially the longest serving civilian Governor of the Sindh province. Before the honorary distinction had been given to Lt.S.M. Abbasi.

One of the many mega projects that were initiated were such as Nagan Chowrangi flyover.The Governor is also now making sure many projects like Lyari express and other developments to be completed as fast as possible. The Governor sindh, Dr.Ishratul-ebad is also working to make Karachi a greener city as a long term project.Ebad also played a pivotal role in diffusing tension and violence in the city by holding political talks with other political parties major members. Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan is, as of 2007^[update], the Governor of the province of Sindh in Pakistan. He is a key member of the Muttahida Quami Movement.

Achievements

1.Restoration of daily life activities in Karachi, which is world’s 7th mega city and hub of Pakistan's economic, cultural, political and intellectual activities, maintaining of law and order during Eid’s, Rabi-ul-Awal, Muharram ul haram, and personal visits to religious places, market and routes of rallies to make atmosphere more conducive.

2. Different efforts to end urban-rural divide and reduce poverty, to improve agriculture and irrigation system and to promote industrial activities in order to create job opportunities.

3. Annual development program (ADP) has been enhanced from 5 billion rupees to 50 billion rupees, in five years.

4. Initiated steps to chalk out comprehensive master plan for Karachi and other and cities of the Sindh province.

5. Special attention to sports, cultural, journalism and literature; increase in grant for press clubs of the province and Karachi Arts council; setting up Kocha-i-Kaqafat and efforts for Pak – India cricket matches, SAF football championship and revival of theatre and film.

6. Legend trust for national heroes of different sectors and to provide them different sectors and to provide them necessities of life treatment and education to their children; unique step in country’s history.

7. Separate examinations for ninth and 10th classes.

8. Legislation and practical steps to end Karo – Kari.

9. Special plans for shifting automobile city, timber market, iron market and truck stand from busy areas of the city.

10. Comprehensive plan for setting up two more Subzi Mandis.
